Sweetser’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) provides secure, round-the-clock care for youth with serious mental and emotional health needs.
Right now, over 70 Maine children are in out-of-state facilities, and many more languish in hospital beds awaiting placement – some sent as far away as Arkansas and Florida.
Maine's first PRTF will give youth a safe, trauma-informed home where they can heal, stay close to family, and build a path to long-term stability.
This community effort will reduce costly out-of-state placements, strengthen care in Maine, and save taxpayers thousands.
